Lawyers Meredith Corey Lee and Merrill Nelson elected Miller & Martin members


Miller & Martin announce the promotion of lawyers Meredith Corey Lee and Merrill Nelson to the firm effective January 1.

The newly elected members reside in the Chattanooga office, Ms. Lee being a member of the Litigation Department and Mr. Nelson being a member of the Corporate Department.

“We are proud to promote both Meredith and Merrill as members,” said Scott Parrish, president of Miller & Martin. They are true leaders for the next generation of lawyers at the firm.

Ms. Lee’s practice has a strong focus on defending against product liability litigation, including mass tort actions and class actions. She represents clients in complex commercial litigation, including breach of contract, non-compete litigation and commercial tort. Ms. Lee practices in state and federal courts and has represented clients at trial courts and appellate levels.

In addition to legal defense, Ms. Lee represents clients in the development and marketing of consumer products. This includes advising clients regarding FDA regulations on food products, dietary supplements, cosmetics, and drugs sold to consumers.

Ms. Lee received her JD from the University of Georgia Law School and a BA from the University of Virginia. She joined the firm in 2014 after practicing at a large international law firm and is licensed in Tennessee and Georgia. His accolades include recognition as a Top Lawyer to Watch for Civil Liability and Class Action Litigation and Rising Stars of Mid-South Super Lawyers for Commercial Litigation.

Mr. Nelson advises clients on a wide variety of corporate law matters, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital financing, and general corporate contracts. He has advised buyers and sellers in business transactions in the manufacturing, healthcare, video production and industrial supplies sectors, among others. He has worked with companies and close owners on the resolution of property disputes and other corporate governance issues. Mr. Nelson also advises founders and investors in negotiating private equity investments for start-ups and emerging companies. Mr. Nelson sits on the Board of Trustees of Chattanooga Girl’s Leadership Academy, an all-female charter prep school, and is an active member of the First Centenary United Methodist Church.

Mr. Nelson holds a JD from the University of Tennessee College of Law, an MBA from the University of Tennessee College of Business Administration, and a BA in Real Estate and History from the University of Tennessee. ‘University of Georgia. He joined the firm in 2012 and is licensed in Tennessee.
