Dose & Co. collagen supplement review: benefits and taste

It’s so good that the perks are just a bonus.

I am one month away from my 25th birthday; and while some may think of the occasion as marking my quarter century, I am unable to think of it as anything other than “the age when my collagen levels officially start to decline.” Tragic, I know.

And so, within weeks of the end of the milestone, I found myself desperately browsing the supplement shelves for something outfitted to keep my face intact without needles (I’m terrified, for the record).

Did I expect Coles to hold the key to Eternal Youth? Uh, not exactly. And yet, this is exactly where I discovered my latest and greatest skin plumping secret. Enter: Dose & Co.

Perhaps it was the fact that the tubs were essentially begging to be included in a “gram-ready” flatbed configuration that caught my eye? No comment. Okay, it sure didn’t hurt – but there’s no need to feel guilty about going after the visual – the packaging is 100% plastic-free.

Aesthetics aside, I have to admit that as someone who tries beauty products for a living I was a bit skeptical, but there was no time to waste; my filing deadline was fast approaching. And so I started the testing process with the Creamy Vanilla Collagen Protein Powder, mixing it with a little milk.

Keep in mind that despite being on my way to my mid-20s, my taste buds apparently stopped aging around ten, and so anything that turns into a moonlight milkshake is top notch in my books. And boy, did it. The flavor actually made the ritual feel more like a treat than a task.

I decided to swap my cold drink for a hot drink for the arvo shift, mixing the Creamer Caramel Collagen in a hot chocolate (ten year old taste buds, I told you, but with that kind of collagen intake, it doesn’t take long before my skin shows ten year roundness levels too, so, touch).
I’m not a coffee drinker so this was the perfect alternative for afternoon drinks, but hey, I’m sure if you actually had a soft spot for a cup of caffeine either the vanilla or the creme caramel options would taste pretty darn delicious in one of them, too.

This is where my usual nature became a blessing (I turn on the exact same TV episode every night to fall asleep; on Groundhog Day, Gilmore Girls style); I could. Not. Stop. The real plus is how the range fits perfectly into my daily routine; it’s a super easy form of self-care that you can indulge in every day (or once you, like me, are obsessed with vanilla powder, probably several times a day).

I also did some research on the brand while taking a sip. I would be lying if I said I had no doubts it could be so tasty without a hidden drawback, but let’s just say that founder Libby Matthews’ nutritionist and naturopathic credentials got me right.

It turns out that she herself was looking for the perfect complement, and when she noticed that the baddies tend to outweigh the perks (damn, fillers, and questionable sweeteners), she decided to create her own line. FYI, Dose & Co. was also developed in New Zealand; let’s call it a Trans-Tasman home advantage.

As a total sweet tooth, I’ll admit that the flavors are absolutely what got me hooked. If there is anything going into vanilla, caramel or (wait for applause in the case of protein powder) Chocolate fondant variety that I can categorize under “really good for me”, that’s a huge win, but let’s get down to the science for a second. What is bovine collagen (the star ingredient in the range) anyway, and why does our body need it so badly?

Bovine collagen is a clever combination of type 1 and type 3 collagen, and is actually responsible for the growth and repair of skin, bones, tendons, and ligaments – I know I’m super performing. . So when you start taking bovine collagen supplements, your body absorbs the amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and collagen molecules in the formula and distributes them throughout the body to areas that need a bit of extra muscle training. collagen (ie, skin, hair and nails).

TBH, the ritual got so damn delicious after a few weeks that I rightfully almost forgot that it came with benefits.

But I’m not kidding, my face is plumper, smoother, and firmer than ever (take this, 25), I’m wearing my fingernails bare for the first time in months (they’re long, strong, and shiny with a new natural a sheen I wouldn’t dare to cover with polish, in case you wondered), and my hair (which, being a partial bottle blonde to a curling wand, hasn’t seen any growth). major for ages) have grown a few solid extra inches – in fact, I even reserved a haircut to finally let go of the scattered ends now that the hair that grows is stronger, thicker and smoother.

I definitely have my favorites (the aforementioned vanilla and caramel creams and powders depending on how sweet I want to go), but there are a ton of options available.

In fact, when I found myself humbly bragging to a friend that I felt like I was drinking a vanilla shake twice a day to plump skin and shiny hair, she (as lactose intolerant coconut milk fanatic) thought she had found a milk-shaped hole in my recommendation. Ah, how wrong she was – I was very proud to inform her (plump cheeks blissful with joy) that my beloved vanilla and caramel creams were also available in dairy-free form, loaded in place of her cherished coconut milk. Boom.
I have my answer to all the ‘I want plump skin but I don’t like candy’ style statements locked and loaded equally: the Unflavored collagen powder will add all the benefits without any taste – you can literally load your oatmeal or cookie recipes with it and your taste buds won’t be any more savvy (your skin elasticity, however, will certainly be aware of this). This bad boy is flavorless, yes, but he’s also free of dairy, soy, gluten, artificial sweeteners, and sugars, so there’s no need to worry.
The best part? If you run out of a favorite, you can restock while shopping – Dose & Co. is available at Coles stores nationwide, making everything ten billion times easier. Because trust me, once you get into the habit of drinking, mixing, and plumping daily, you won’t want to wait around for your new batch to ship (although it is stored online on the brand’s website just in case your local Coles is fresh out of your favorite).

The range is as affordable as it is efficient; with all seven products priced at under $ 55 each, it proves that skin supplements don’t have to be splurge.

As for me, it turns out that I won’t need to wish for plump skin, shiny hair, and strong nails when I blow out my candles after all, the ultimate gift.
